Playoff brackets always feel like a fresh reset, and this Spring Playoff Special Edition is your rapid guide to where Hanford-area baseball and softball teams land and what round one really looks like. I walk through the matchups one by one, so you can instantly see who’s hosting, who’s traveling, and where the pressure points are as postseason play begins. If you follow Hanford high school sports, CIF-style playoff brackets, or Central Valley baseball and softball, you’ll leave with a clear map of Friday’s slate.

On the baseball side, Sierra Pacific grabs the highest local seed with a Division II six seed, powered by one of the best momentum swings you’ll see all spring: an 0-5 start that turns into 18 wins in the final 22 games. Hanford High baseball also lands in the Division II bracket, drawing a tough road opener against 2-seed Ridgeview in Bakersfield. Hanford West baseball keeps its season going in Division IV, heading to league champion Wasco with nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Softball brings its own playoff energy. Hanford West earns a Division III three seed and home field through the first two rounds, while Hanford High softball heads to Golden West with a clear “run it back” storyline after a one-run regular season loss. Sierra Pacific softball slots into Division IV as a nine seed and meets Golden Valley in what should feel like a razor-thin, possession-by-possession type of game.

Start times are generally listed for 4:30 p.m. Friday, but they can change, so keep an eye on team social media and plan accordingly. Subscribe so you don’t miss our round one results next week, and if you’re going to a game, tell me which matchup you’re most excited to watch.

Spring Playoff Special Kickoff

This is your Hanford Insiders Spring Playoff Special Edition. Baseball and softball playoff brackets were released with all six Hanford teams selected for postseason play. So here are your round one matchups. The highest seed of either sports is owned by the Sierra Pacific baseball team, earning a sixth seed in Division II. After starting the year 0-5, the Golden Bears won 18 of their final 22 games of the season for a second place league finish. Their round one opponent will be 11-seed Passerobles as the Bearcats come into the playoffs with a 12-13 and one overall mark on the year, having lost seven of their last 10 games. Also making an appearance in the D2 bracket is the Hanford High Baseball team, though falling in their final two regular season matchups might have dropped them a few seeds as the Bullpups wind up a 15 seed. Their journey to spoiler will start in Bakersfield against two seed Ridgevie, who comes into the playoffs with a 21-8 overall record and a second place finish in the South Yosemite League. And despite a 9-17 year and a last place league finish, the Hanford West baseball team's season will continue as an 11 seed in the Division IV bracket. The Huskies will be on the road in round one at Wasco, who is coming off of a nice season that saw the Tigers crowned South Sequoia League champions. We'll stick with Hanford West but out to softball now, where after an up and down 14 and 13 year, the Huskies will have home field advantage through the first two rounds of the playoffs as a three-seed in Division III. Their round one opponent will be fourteen-seed Sanger West. These two teams do have a common opponent on the year, with both squads taking down Sierra Pacific twice in the regular season. Joining Hanford West in the D three bracket will be the Hanford High softball team. Having won three of their final five games of the year, the Bullpups will look to keep the late season momentum rolling as they'll head on the road to take on four-seed Golden West in round one. Hanford High might be out for revenge after the Trailblazers took down the Bullpups five to four in their mid-March regular season meeting. And the Sierra Pacific softball team will see playoff action as a nine-seed in Division IV after their 14-14 and one regular season finish. The Golden Bears will face off with eight-seed Golden Valley in round one. You might want to keep an eye on teams' social media as the general starting time for all playoff games are listed for 4 30 p.m. on Friday, but that time is subject to change for any of these games. Don't forget, we'll be back on next week's episode with all of your round one results. I'm Eric Bentley, and this has been your Hanford Insider Spring Playoff Special Edition.
