Two weeks left in the regular season and the margin for error is basically gone. We’re tracking the Hanford-area high school football stretch run with a quick, detail-packed update that focuses on the plays that changed games and the matchups that can still reshape league standings.

We start with Hanford High’s bounce-back win over Redwood, a game that turned on defense, finishing drives, and one huge special teams moment. An early takeaway helps Hanford grab control, and the night features explosive connections from Jaron Mao to Braylon Thomas, plus Mao’s burst on the ground. The sequence everyone will be talking about is the 99-yard kickoff return touchdown that gets called back for holding, wiping out a potential momentum flip and keeping Hanford in the driver’s seat. With the Bullpups now 6-2 overall and battling in EYL play, the next test is enormous: unbeaten, league-leading Tulare Western.

Then we jump to the Tri-County Sequoia League, where Sierra Pacific takes down Hanford West in the latest Clash of the Claws behind a big passing night from Harrison Grant and a multi-score effort from a deep group of playmakers. We also look ahead to Sierra Pacific vs Reedley and Hanford West vs Fowler, two games that carry real weight for confidence and league progress.

If you follow Central Valley high school football, this is the time to lock in. Subscribe, share this with a fellow fan, and leave a review to help more locals find the show.

Quick Update And Stretch Run

SPEAKER_00

We've got a quick football update for you this week as we're headed down the stretch with only two weeks left in the regular season.

Hanford High Beats Redwood

SPEAKER_00

We'll start with Hanford High, who was able to bounce back from their back-to-back losses with a wire-to-wire win over Redwood last Thursday. The Bullpubs defense set the tone early with the turnover on Redwood's first drive, which the Bullpubs would turn into eight points on a Jaron Mao touchdown pass to Braylon Thomas and a Karsten Gravens two-point conversion as Hanford High led eight to three after the first quarter. The Bullpubs would take a 15-3 lead on a Karsten Gravens rushing touchdown in the second, then a huge swing of momentum as Redwood would return the ensuing kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown, only to be called back for holding to keep the score 15-13 in the Bullpubs' favor. Hanford High would make it 22-3 on a 69-yard Mao to Thomas touchdown connection, but Redwood would answer before the half to make it 22-10 at the break. Jaron Mao would open the second half scoring with a 51-yard rushing touchdown to give the Bullpups a commanding 28-10 lead, and Sebastian Cardiel would open the fourth with a rushing touchdown to put the game out of reach 35-10. Redwood's attempt at a comeback would only span a 10-0th quarter run before Sebastian Cardiel punched another one in for the 42-20 win. Jaron Mao finished the evening 19 of 25 passing for 194 yards and three total touchdowns, while Braylon Thomas hauled in seven catches for 129 yards with two scores, and Sebastian Cartier toted the Rock 21 times for 66 yards and two touchdowns.

Big Test Against Tulare Western

SPEAKER_00

Hanford High now sits at 6-2 overall on the year, 2-2 in EYL play. And as the EYL continues to beat up on each other and make every game important, it's a big one on deck this week for the Bullpups against league leading Talery Western. The Mustangs are a perfect 8-0 on the year, 3-0 in league play, but if one thing has been proven this season, you never know what can happen on a game-to-game basis. Action kicks off in Tilary on Thursday at 7 30.

Sierra Pacific Wins Clash Of Claws

SPEAKER_00

And we had a crosstown showdown in Tri-County Sequoia League play last week as Sierra Pacific took down Hanford West handily to win this year's edition of the Clash of the Claws. Golden Bears quarterback Harrison Grant finished 14 of 18 passing for 285 yards and three touchdowns. Those three passing touchdowns went to Luke Costa, Zachary Jimenez, and Armando Zamora, while Chase Santos rushed for two scores, and Destin Hill also ran one in to complete the scoring in the 41-6 route.

Next Games For Reedley And Fowler

SPEAKER_00

The Golden Bears find themselves in a three-way tie for second place in the Tri-County Sequoia League with a two-and-one record, and they'll face off with one of those other two-and-one teams this week, Friday at home, as Reedley comes to town. 7 30 the scheduled kickoff time for that one. And for Hanford West, though they were able to get their first points on the board in league action. They're still in search of their first league win of the year, and they'll have a shot against the only other winless team in league play this week, Fowler. That game kicks off at 7 30 on Friday in Fowler.
