00:00:01.199 --> 00:00:11.919
On this episode of The Hanford Insider, Brad Albert stops by to give us an update on many of the activities of the Hanford Department of Parks and Community Services.
00:00:12.240 --> 00:00:18.800
Rob will give you a look at some of this week's community events, and I'll be back with your sports report.
00:00:19.280 --> 00:00:23.359
This is the Hanford Insider for Monday, March 30th.
00:00:52.240 --> 00:00:54.000
I'm your host, Rob Bentley.
00:00:54.240 --> 00:01:01.759
From downtown happenings to local history and community voices, we're bringing you the best of Hanford straight from the insiders.
00:01:01.920 --> 00:01:03.200
So let's get started.
00:01:03.840 --> 00:01:13.359
In community news this week, after a few months of construction at the old Sizzler building at 11th and Lacey, we finally saw a sign go up for Smile and Dentistry.
00:01:13.840 --> 00:01:17.120
It's amazing how many people miss the old Sizzlers restaurant.
00:01:18.000 --> 00:01:26.640
Others have asked about the construction at the old Ride 8 at 10th and Fargo, and word has it that it will become a new facility for Davida dialysis.
00:01:27.120 --> 00:01:32.959
Later in the show, Brad Albert gives us some really good updates on community activities, so stay tuned.
00:01:33.200 --> 00:01:36.560
For now, let's take a look at this week's community calendar.
00:01:36.799 --> 00:01:45.519
There'll be a parade in downtown Hanford on Thursday, April 9th, celebrating the Sierra Pacific Golden Bears Girls Basketball Team State Championships.
00:01:45.680 --> 00:01:49.680
The parade will begin and end at the Hanford Civic Auditorium.
00:01:49.920 --> 00:01:58.640
Speaking of Sierra Pacific, their band will be holding their annual shredding event on Saturday, April 11th at the old district office across from Carls Jr.
00:01:59.280 --> 00:02:03.439
Finally, the downtown Hanford Car Show will be held Saturday, June 6th.
00:02:03.599 --> 00:02:06.719
Find out more at Carnegie Car Show.com.
00:02:07.519 --> 00:02:12.639
If you have an event coming up, large or small, and you'd like some help getting the word out, let's work together.
00:02:12.879 --> 00:02:16.560
Send your information to HanfordInsider at gmail.com.
00:02:16.879 --> 00:02:21.360
Be sure to subscribe to my weekly newsletter to get a complete calendar of events.
00:02:21.599 --> 00:02:25.039
It's the most comprehensive community calendar available.
00:02:41.199 --> 00:02:49.360
And we have with us today Brad Albert, the Director of Parks and Community Services in Hanford, and we are going to play Recreation Roulette.
00:02:49.599 --> 00:02:50.639
What do you think, Brad?
00:02:50.879 --> 00:02:52.960
I hope I'm ready for this.
00:02:53.280 --> 00:03:02.000
Okay, I have a spinning wheel, and we have about 136 topics on the wheel, but we'll probably only get to eight of them or so.
00:03:02.159 --> 00:03:05.280
So let's go ahead and spin the wheel and see what we've got up first.
00:03:05.759 --> 00:03:07.039
You got it.
00:03:11.280 --> 00:03:11.599
Okay.
00:03:12.080 --> 00:03:19.439
Well, we see advertisements that Freddie the Firetruck has come out of hibernation for this summer.
00:03:19.599 --> 00:03:25.360
And uh fill us in on uh Freddie the Firetruck and maybe the carousel rides too while you're at it.
00:03:25.759 --> 00:03:26.879
Yeah, absolutely.
00:03:26.960 --> 00:03:37.759
You know, with the good weather coming out in springtime now, Freddie is available to take rides uh and tours around town, as is the carousel for one hour.
00:03:38.000 --> 00:03:48.560
And also included in that is the Bastille Patio, which is a new kind of an area that will be running out to private parties and to groups throughout the spring.
00:03:48.639 --> 00:03:53.199
Uh we do run Freddie and the carousel during all of the Thursday night markets.
00:03:53.280 --> 00:03:56.080
That will be starting in a little over a month now.
00:03:56.159 --> 00:03:57.919
So we're really excited about that.
00:03:58.080 --> 00:03:59.360
Freddie's running great.
00:03:59.439 --> 00:04:06.479
Uh Albert Yarborough, our driver, is ready to go and take people on an unforgettable tour.
00:04:06.879 --> 00:04:07.599
Lots of fun.
00:04:07.759 --> 00:04:08.240
Lots of fun.
00:04:08.319 --> 00:04:09.919
All right, let's hit number two.
00:04:14.639 --> 00:04:16.240
Oh, this one's interesting.
00:04:16.399 --> 00:04:22.240
Uh, we've been seeing in city council news that they've been talking about this urban forest grant.
00:04:22.399 --> 00:04:27.680
And some people would probably be led to believe, oh, they're just gonna bunch buy a bunch of trees and stick them in the ground.
00:04:27.759 --> 00:04:31.439
That I've been following this, and it's it's a lot more than that, yeah.
00:04:32.079 --> 00:04:39.439
Yes, we received a grant from the um Forest Service, a community and urban forestry grant, oh, about a year ago.
00:04:39.680 --> 00:04:43.199
And with that grant, we we've we've accomplished a lot so far.
00:04:43.279 --> 00:05:02.800
We're we're in the adoption phase of an urban forest master plan, which will really be a roadmap um for the city of Hanford moving forward uh in the importance of trees and what they contribute, you know, to the physical well-being and quality of life of Hanford um residents.
00:05:03.040 --> 00:05:11.680
Included will be uh planting 600 trees, but we've also done a tree inventory of all publicly owned um trees.
00:05:11.839 --> 00:05:18.720
Um we know what size, what species, uh, which ones are doing well, maybe some that aren't doing so well.
00:05:18.879 --> 00:05:26.160
So for the first time ever, we really have uh a catalog of everything that we oversee and manage.
00:05:26.240 --> 00:05:30.639
So this is uh a huge step forward for urban forestry.
00:05:30.879 --> 00:05:41.439
We've actually learned, kind of surprisingly, we've lost some canopy cover over the last four years, with about 90% of that happening on private property.
00:05:41.680 --> 00:05:45.439
So we're trying to figure out are people taking trees out?
00:05:45.600 --> 00:05:51.360
Um, were they the improper species and maybe lifting up driveways or sidewalks?
00:05:51.519 --> 00:05:57.040
And so part of this grant is also to do public education and outreach.
00:05:57.279 --> 00:06:09.839
We've actually developed um a tree planting guide so people know how to actually properly plant their trees and watering, and usually it takes about two years to establish uh a new tree.
00:06:10.720 --> 00:06:16.240
And this also includes an arborist, kind of on call, to assess uh what's going on with trees in town.
00:06:16.399 --> 00:06:16.800
Yeah.
00:06:17.120 --> 00:06:25.279
Yeah, we've assembled actually what I call my my tree expert team and an on-call arborist, which was is West Coast Arborist.
00:06:25.600 --> 00:06:35.759
They come down and they help us consult on heritage trees, um, which in in Hanford is uh is a valley oak um species, and though those are protected.
00:06:35.839 --> 00:06:52.560
Um, in addition, um future planting sites of these trees, you know, what is the right species in that location, in that soil, and Hanford's water conditions, so everything lines up so these new trees can thrive.
00:06:53.040 --> 00:06:53.680
That's great.
00:06:53.759 --> 00:06:57.519
I mean, that's gonna be great to have an expert who knows about these things.
00:06:57.680 --> 00:07:03.519
And I understand that these aren't just any trees, these are actually trees that were born and raised right here in Hanford.
00:07:04.079 --> 00:07:04.720
That is true.
00:07:04.879 --> 00:07:10.399
So Fonseca Dursery, right down the street here, was named our um tree supplier.
00:07:10.480 --> 00:07:16.000
We went on a competitive bid, and they're gonna be growing a lot of the species right on site.
00:07:16.160 --> 00:07:21.759
So it makes it real convenient to be able to go out, pick up the trees, get them, get them in the locations.
00:07:21.920 --> 00:07:24.720
Um, we're finishing up at the Hanford softball complex.
00:07:25.040 --> 00:07:33.439
We lost about a hundred trees out there to uh the bark beetle, and we'll be moving fairly quickly into some of our parks.
00:07:33.600 --> 00:07:39.120
The youth athletic complex will get some new trees and just all around the town.
00:07:39.920 --> 00:07:43.439
Okay, let's uh spin the wheel and see what we got next.
00:07:47.759 --> 00:07:52.000
Okay, coming up in the civic auditorium, you have these date nights with parents.
00:07:52.079 --> 00:07:54.800
You have mother-son date night, father-daughter date night.
00:07:55.040 --> 00:07:56.079
Tell us about those.
00:07:56.399 --> 00:08:02.959
Yeah, so this has been a kind of an annual tradition here, and it's looked forward to by parents and their sons and daughters.
00:08:03.120 --> 00:08:11.120
So on April 17th, we have our mother-son dance, and on the following day, the 18th, we have our father-daughter.
00:08:11.519 --> 00:08:25.120
And the theme this year is really Let's Glow Crazy, which kind of goes back a little bit to the disco days of black lights and we'll have a DJ and strobe lights and all of that.
00:08:25.279 --> 00:08:29.600
It will be at the Civic Auditorium and both events are from 6 to 9 p.m.
00:08:30.079 --> 00:08:31.040
So really neat.
00:08:31.120 --> 00:08:32.799
Um, tickets are on sale.
00:08:32.879 --> 00:08:37.840
You can go online um onto the city's website and you can purchase your ticket.
00:08:37.919 --> 00:08:41.360
We also have a QR code on on the website.
00:08:41.519 --> 00:08:47.519
And this year, Raising Canes actually donated the dinners tonight, I mean, for this dance.
00:08:47.679 --> 00:08:55.039
So, really kind of neat that a local vendor um has stepped up and really supported these these programs.
00:08:55.360 --> 00:08:58.720
Yeah, we've been seeing a lot of that um participation by the community.
00:08:58.799 --> 00:08:59.519
That's what's great.
00:08:59.600 --> 00:09:04.559
So um having these companies that invest in the community and the the youth, especially.
00:09:04.879 --> 00:09:06.480
All right, next up.
00:09:11.600 --> 00:09:17.360
You know, Brad, when you came on the show a year or so ago, we were so excited about the Boys and Girls Club at Co.
00:09:17.600 --> 00:09:19.919
Park and uh the uh Longfield Center.
00:09:20.080 --> 00:09:22.320
And uh let's get an update on that.
00:09:22.960 --> 00:09:28.080
Yeah, so the Boys and Girls Club is operating um very strongly.
00:09:28.320 --> 00:09:31.200
Our um enrollment has gone up now.
00:09:31.279 --> 00:09:35.120
I think we're reaching the numbers of 30 to 40 students.
00:09:35.440 --> 00:09:38.480
It is for grades seven through 12.
00:09:38.720 --> 00:09:41.360
What's really neat is our partnership with CART.
00:09:41.759 --> 00:09:51.360
And now any young person, seventh through twelfth grade, who would like to come to the club um literally calls up um CART.
00:09:51.519 --> 00:09:55.759
They'll pick them up at school and bring them to Cove Park to the club.
00:09:56.000 --> 00:10:01.440
So we didn't want to have transportation be a barrier for those for those young people.
00:10:01.679 --> 00:10:14.639
So they cover a wide variety of arts, recreation, um, prevention, um sports, uh, a lot of different things that interest you know young people today.
00:10:14.720 --> 00:10:21.120
Um they're getting more and more into STEM, uh, doing some robotics and some coding.
00:10:21.360 --> 00:10:29.919
So those folks that are kind of into uh the technical uh exciting things that are happening, uh it'd be a great thing to check out.
00:10:30.000 --> 00:10:33.039
And they can go over anytime and and take a look.
00:10:33.279 --> 00:10:38.240
Parents are welcome at the club, and we're just real excited to continue this program.
00:10:39.440 --> 00:10:42.639
Yeah, that's so great that it's taken off the way that it has.
00:10:42.720 --> 00:10:44.559
I know it's impacted a lot of families.
00:10:45.200 --> 00:10:47.440
All right, let's spin this wheel, Brad.
00:10:53.519 --> 00:10:55.200
Oh, the plunge.
00:10:55.840 --> 00:10:58.240
This has been a project, hasn't it?
00:10:58.879 --> 00:11:00.879
Oh man, it it has.
00:11:01.200 --> 00:11:09.360
You know, I often tell people, you know, the plunge is is up in ears and it it's a little old and tired.
00:11:09.759 --> 00:11:18.240
And this last off season, in fact, right now we're kind of wrapping up some major repairs and renovation to the slide.
00:11:18.480 --> 00:11:28.320
I'm very, very happy to announce that the slide in the slide pool will be open uh June 1st when we open up to the public.
00:11:28.399 --> 00:11:31.360
Uh, we've been down a couple of years with the slide.
00:11:31.440 --> 00:11:38.720
Um, what people don't realize is that the slide is actually categorized as an attraction in the state of California.
00:11:38.879 --> 00:11:49.759
So it requires inspections yearly, and we've met now the criteria of those inspections, and we're very happy that um that will happen this summer.
00:11:49.919 --> 00:11:56.080
We've also done some work in the mechanical room that will help us and on the main pool.
00:11:56.320 --> 00:12:01.519
So, not too long from now in May, we'll be getting our water aerobics and our lap swimming going.
00:12:01.600 --> 00:12:07.200
And then we really open up full tilt in early June when kids get out of school.
00:12:07.440 --> 00:12:12.559
And um from the signs of spring, it may be a warm summer.
00:12:12.799 --> 00:12:15.039
Um, so we're really looking forward to that.
00:12:15.200 --> 00:12:21.519
We've got probably about three-quarters of our lifeguards returning, which is always was was always great.
00:12:21.600 --> 00:12:23.679
We do we do have some room.
00:12:23.840 --> 00:12:34.480
We're in the process right now of hiring a part-time aquatics technician that their full job will be nothing but the maintenance and the upkeep of the plunge.
00:12:34.559 --> 00:12:40.559
And hopefully we'll avoid avoid some of these, you know, bigger repairs and renovations in the future.
00:12:41.120 --> 00:12:51.600
Yeah, I was just gonna say, so you're gonna be hiring additional people in addition to the ones that you already have for the summer season, not only for the plunge, but the summer activities that you have planned as well.
00:12:51.679 --> 00:12:54.080
So we all we know that's a big part of it.
00:12:54.320 --> 00:12:56.159
Okay, we got a couple more here.
00:12:56.399 --> 00:12:58.000
Spinning the wheel.
00:13:02.799 --> 00:13:04.159
Winter Wonderland.
00:13:04.320 --> 00:13:15.279
I understand you gave a report to the city council recently and talked about all the great things that happened with this year's winter wonderland and how the profits are going to be reinvested back into the park.
00:13:15.519 --> 00:13:16.240
Yeah, we did.
00:13:16.399 --> 00:13:17.120
We're so happy.
00:13:17.200 --> 00:13:18.159
It took us a little while.
00:13:18.240 --> 00:13:25.279
All our numbers have to close out at the end of the of the year, and a little bit of revenue and expenses were trickling in.
00:13:25.519 --> 00:13:28.159
So we we provided that report, the council.
00:13:28.320 --> 00:13:40.000
You know, the big number for us is we had 148,500 visits in seven weeks, the highest number of people that we've had.
00:13:40.159 --> 00:13:43.600
Um, so we continue to grow and expand regionally.
00:13:43.759 --> 00:13:45.840
So we're very, very happy about this.
00:13:46.000 --> 00:13:48.559
Our vendors did really well collectively.
00:13:48.799 --> 00:13:53.919
Our vendors, um, their gross was over$324,000.
00:13:54.720 --> 00:14:00.159
And most of these are local Hanford vendors, so that that's pretty outstanding.
00:14:00.320 --> 00:14:07.120
When you take the revenue from the event with the vendors, it was creeping up on$900,000.
00:14:07.600 --> 00:14:12.000
So almost a million dollars for seven weeks is not too bad.
00:14:12.320 --> 00:14:14.799
And we're really, really proud about that.
00:14:14.960 --> 00:14:18.320
Um, we did end up with some net revenue.
00:14:18.480 --> 00:14:21.600
So after we paid all our expenses, we had a little bit of money.
00:14:21.679 --> 00:14:25.279
Um, that ended up coming in right around 90,000.
00:14:25.519 --> 00:14:27.679
We did some repairs to Civic Park.
00:14:27.759 --> 00:14:28.480
Yeah, we've seen it.
00:14:28.639 --> 00:14:35.679
So, one, we replaced some sidewalks and cement that the humongous ice cube out there broke.
00:14:35.919 --> 00:14:39.519
We've also done repairs to the fountain um there.
00:14:39.679 --> 00:14:46.000
We've resolted and reseeded the park, and actually, Civic Park is really looking beautiful right now.
00:14:46.159 --> 00:14:49.600
And our goal is always to get it ready for the springtime.
00:14:49.759 --> 00:14:51.279
So we're really happy.
00:14:51.519 --> 00:15:00.159
So after um you take out those repairs, we ended up with just under 50,000, and we're gonna reinvest that back into the park.
00:15:00.320 --> 00:15:08.639
Um, again, the park electrical infrastructure is like really old, and we plug so much things in for Winter Wonderland.
00:15:08.879 --> 00:15:12.480
We uh blow circuits, and what happened to those lights?
00:15:12.639 --> 00:15:17.440
So we're gonna be looking at adding some electrical pedestals in the park.
00:15:17.679 --> 00:15:25.360
Right now, all our vendors have to bring their own generators, and we're hoping to kind of cure that a little bit um in the future.
00:15:25.600 --> 00:15:31.919
So everything, all of our net revenue will be kind of reinvested back into the park.
00:15:32.080 --> 00:15:37.440
It's such an important location for all the many special events we have here.
00:15:37.679 --> 00:15:38.639
Yeah, for sure.
00:15:38.879 --> 00:15:46.320
You know, a few weeks ago I was interviewing a steam land about the courthouse purchase and their plans for uh what they're planning on doing.
00:15:46.480 --> 00:15:51.600
Uh how is that going to impact the park park usage in the carousel and the stage?
00:15:51.759 --> 00:15:56.960
I mean, how what kind of things have you worked out with them to be able to still use that space occasionally?
00:15:57.360 --> 00:16:06.960
Yeah, so so now that we have new ownership, and that does include the courthouse square area where the where the faux brick and the and the stage is.
00:16:07.120 --> 00:16:12.480
So we we um send them an email and say, hey, we've got this event coming.
00:16:12.559 --> 00:16:14.000
Are we okay to use it?
00:16:14.159 --> 00:16:17.519
So far, they've been very gracious in allowing us to do that.
00:16:17.759 --> 00:16:21.919
That that is technically part of the courthouse property now.
00:16:22.159 --> 00:16:26.480
And so, and they're moving forward really quickly with the renovations inside.
00:16:26.639 --> 00:16:33.679
The carousel has remained um the city's um and is still part of quote Civic Park.
00:16:33.919 --> 00:16:38.559
So we'll be um we're actually gonna be doing some upgrades on the lighting.
00:16:38.639 --> 00:16:45.039
Um, when we got it way back, that's like a 1934 vintage carousel.
00:16:45.200 --> 00:16:48.720
And again, it's considered a traction in the state's eyes.
00:16:49.039 --> 00:16:53.440
So to get the right lights, we got to get approval from the state and do all that.
00:16:53.519 --> 00:17:11.200
But our building superintendent Randy Shaw is helping with that, and so hopefully fairly soon, it will be lit up in the reds and the yellows and the greens and maybe have a little more of an uh of a um uh an impact on that corner with kind of looking like an old-fashioned carousel.
00:17:11.680 --> 00:17:15.680
So right now it's it's going really well with the new owners of the courthouse.
00:17:15.839 --> 00:17:18.720
We seem to be working together really, really well.
00:17:18.960 --> 00:17:23.440
Um, we'll see as they progress um what will happen.
00:17:23.599 --> 00:17:26.799
But right now, um everything's been working wonderful.
00:17:27.440 --> 00:17:28.319
Yeah, that's great.
00:17:28.400 --> 00:17:34.799
It it is going to be more of an attraction as businesses continue to move in and eventually the restaurant and the brewery.
00:17:34.880 --> 00:17:39.839
Uh I can see that really a big that corner that just has the carousel.
00:17:40.079 --> 00:17:42.640
I bet there's some more things that are gonna end up going in there.
00:17:42.880 --> 00:17:43.440
I think so.
00:17:43.519 --> 00:17:53.839
And I think it's gonna be a great partnership because you know, our events will drive folks in in in indoors, and I think they'll come out of the courthouse into some of our events.
00:17:54.000 --> 00:18:00.079
So it's gonna be a really nice indoor-outdoor, I think, experience for folks.
00:18:00.559 --> 00:18:07.039
Well, I don't have to spin the wheel again because we just have one topic left, and that is Easter at the parks.
00:18:07.119 --> 00:18:13.599
And I have a couple questions, but let's start with the Easter egg hunt and the day camp that you have going that week.
00:18:13.920 --> 00:18:14.960
Yeah, absolutely.
00:18:15.119 --> 00:18:19.200
So the Easter egg hunt is actually sold out.
00:18:19.599 --> 00:18:24.240
We have um eight hundred young people signed up.
00:18:24.559 --> 00:18:25.039
800.
00:18:25.279 --> 00:18:27.279
800, our biggest ever.
00:18:27.519 --> 00:18:34.880
We have purchased 9,000 eggs with various goodies uh inside.
00:18:35.359 --> 00:18:37.839
So we have four different age groups.
00:18:38.079 --> 00:18:39.200
They'll report it.
00:18:39.279 --> 00:18:52.640
It begins um at 10:30 for ages one through three, at 11 o'clock for ages four through six, eleven thirty, seven to nine, and then at twelve o'clock for the little bit older, the 10 to 12 year olds.
00:18:53.039 --> 00:18:58.799
So if you do go online, you're gonna see that we're we're we're tapped out um right now.
00:18:59.119 --> 00:19:08.160
I I tell people if you come, if we have folks that don't come that might have registered and not come, but this event is absolutely free.
00:19:08.319 --> 00:19:16.559
Uh again, talking about the community support, we've um we've have several sponsorships that love to sponsor this particular event.
00:19:16.880 --> 00:19:24.720
That day, in addition, we'll have free uh train rides and free pony rides for all young people.
00:19:24.880 --> 00:19:31.200
Sorry, adults, you can't you can't do those two, but it's usually a very, very busy morning.
00:19:31.440 --> 00:19:34.480
Hopefully the weather looks like it's gonna be really nice.
00:19:34.720 --> 00:19:40.799
And so it's something that we've done it, it's become a tradition now that I think people look forward to.
00:19:41.119 --> 00:19:47.279
The spring camp, we run camps every summer, winter, and spring.
00:19:47.519 --> 00:19:52.799
So this year we are working uh and having campers age five to twelve.
00:19:53.039 --> 00:20:06.400
Starts on March 30th, all the way to April 3rd, which is spring break, and it goes from 7:30 to 5:30, and it's actually going to be in a new location in the Veterans Memorial Building.
00:20:06.720 --> 00:20:14.240
So a little bit different that puts them literally right in Civic Park, and they do a lot of field trips and things like that.
00:20:14.480 --> 00:20:20.240
And we will actually be kind of um, it's almost like cooking camp.
00:20:20.400 --> 00:20:22.799
So we call it Become a Junior Chef.
00:20:22.880 --> 00:20:23.119
Okay.
00:20:23.279 --> 00:20:29.039
And so they'll be able to come and they'll be able to learn how to make different dishes.
00:20:29.200 --> 00:20:38.880
Uh, in addition, we provide snacks and lunch free uh for all children, and that is available online right now on our website.
00:20:39.440 --> 00:20:53.119
Well, we know the Civic Auditorium Park is going to be busy that week, but Easter Sunday is a day where we like to get out and we like to go to Freedom Park or Hidden Valley Park or Centennial Park or Lacey or any of these little pocket parks in neighborhoods.
00:20:53.279 --> 00:20:59.599
And uh I know that you have some of the arbors uh for rent in the and you can go on the website and do that.
00:20:59.680 --> 00:21:05.119
But what are some tips that you have for residents that are celebrating Easter with their families in the parks this year?
00:21:05.440 --> 00:21:06.480
Yeah, absolutely.
00:21:06.720 --> 00:21:19.599
Easter Sunday is always, you know, by far our biggest day in all of our um city parks, community parks, even some of the smaller pocket parks.
00:21:19.839 --> 00:21:25.279
And what we ask people really, number one, is be respectful um of one another.
00:21:25.440 --> 00:21:31.279
Try to avoid real loud music, um, uh pick up your belongings and your trash.
00:21:31.440 --> 00:21:37.599
Um, usually it takes us a couple days um afterwards to kind of pick up after everybody.
00:21:37.759 --> 00:21:40.000
You know, park your vehicle correctly.
00:21:40.240 --> 00:21:44.079
Technically, we're not no car should ever be on turf.
00:21:44.160 --> 00:21:54.880
Um, believe it or not, it looks harmless, but there's sprinklers and we bust sprinkler heads, and now we've got water shooting up, and and we have to go and repair all that.
00:21:55.119 --> 00:22:03.759
So we just ask people to stay in the designated areas, and we know in some parks it's Street parking because they filled up you know the park's parking lots.
00:22:04.079 --> 00:22:07.200
So we just ask that people, you know, have a great time.
00:22:07.680 --> 00:22:13.200
Alcohol and and smoking is not allowed in any of our parks at any time.
00:22:13.599 --> 00:22:15.759
All of our public parks are 6 a.m.
00:22:15.920 --> 00:22:16.720
to 10 p.m.
00:22:17.200 --> 00:22:19.119
That is, you know, seven days a week.
00:22:19.519 --> 00:22:26.319
And you know, be be respectful of the restrooms and you know the playgrounds get very, very crowded and things like that.
00:22:26.480 --> 00:22:29.039
So we just want everybody to have a great time.
00:22:29.359 --> 00:22:35.519
Our park resource officers and the heart team will be out um quite a bit and monitoring our parks those days.
00:22:35.759 --> 00:22:41.519
So we just want everybody to have a fun, safe Easter, enjoying the wonderful weather.
00:22:42.799 --> 00:22:46.559
Brad, it is so wonderful to have you on the show uh a lot.
